"The lord is my shepherd I shall not want. Yes we are told in the Holy scriptures of truth, that the young Lions do lack no good thing. Therefore here is great encouragement to trust in Him, for I do believe that if we trust him fully that we shall not lack that which is really necessary for either our natural or our spiritual life.

Many times we think we lack a great many things, which our kind Heavenly Father witholds from us for our good, for God sees not as man seeth, but He who foreknows all things, knows what is best for his dependent children."

Emily Millikan Blair in "Until We Sleep Our Last Sleep" by Emily W. Skinner

If there is one consistent thing in all of Emily's journal entries, it is her unwavering faith in God. Understanding her limitations and the burden of a time plagued with conflict, her tenacity really serves as an inspiration. As I make my way through her thoughts, I realize that we do not change so much as people through the passage of time. Although the characters may vary, ultimately we all desire the same things and we all seem to have an innate desire for more.

If nothing else, may these journal entries serve as a reminder that each of us faces our own hardships, that we are all just people trying to navigate through life, love, and, as is Emily's case, faith.
